Wall Tour

The Berlin wall was built in 1961 by order of the GDR government. It divided the city into East and West until 1989, attempting to contain the floods of people trying to escape from the GDR and completing the already existing border between the GDR and FRG. Today, there are only a few remnants of the wall that remind us of the time before reunification.

Where exactly was the Wall? How did it come about and what were its implications for Berlin? These are some of the central questions that this walking tour between Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint-Charlie and Friedrichstraße will answer for you.
