Dr. David James Prickett

David James Prickett is a language instructor and a cultural historian; his research interests lie in Germanistik and Gender Studies. He received his PhD at the University of Cincinnati and has lived in Berlin since 2001. Currently, he is an academic staff member at the Universität Potsdam, where he teaches German-English translation and courses in English philology. At the Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) and Freie Universität Berlin, he offers courses in German Language and Culture. He has published articles in areas ranging from gender in the Early Modern Period to Weimar literature, film, and visual culture. “‘Hat die Schreckenstat ein Gesicht?’: Das Bild der ‘ostdeutschen Mutter,’” in Hat Strafrecht ein Geschlecht?, ed. Gaby Temme and Christine Künzel (2010) and The Futures of Queer Theory, spec. issue of Cultural Critique, ed. Kevin S. Amidon, Thomas Haakenson, and David J. Prickett (2010) are two of his present projects.
