Peter Rosenbaum works at the Goethe Institute in New York. Beforehand, he was a lecturer for German Studies at Trinity College in Hartford, CT and, from 2000-2002, coordinated the international Remarque-Forum, a think-tank for the promotion of the transatlantic dialogue. Next to German literature and aesthetics of the 20th and 21st century he teaches on the culture of memory. Publications include „The Buchenwald Memorial and Its Différend” (Why Weimar?: Questioning the Legacy of Weimar from Goethe to 1999. 2003), „Wiederholungszwang und Demokratieverständnis: Zum US-amerikanischen Deutschlandbild“ (Zusammenleben mit Nachbarn: Sprachliche, psychische und soziale Probleme im Dreiländereck. 2001) and articles about contemporary German authors. His teaching interests range from modernism, representations of the Holocaust in literature and film to exile literature and German literature and film after 1945.
