Dr. Holly Weaver

Holly has a PhD in Political Theory, with a research focus on citizens' assemblies, immigration, and climate. She received her PhD from the University of California, Irvine. In addition, she has a BA in Philosophy from the University of Nottingham and an MA in Philosophy from King’s College London. Throughout her degree, she has also worked as a legal writer for the Immigration Advice Service and an academic editor for MDPI, in addition to volunteering as an academic mentor.

Over the last six years, Holly has acted as TA for over 18 undergraduate classes across the social sciences, such as Law and Society, Dilemmas of Diversity, and Immigration and Inequality. She has volunteered as an academic mentor for a number of undergraduate students and has also worked as an in-school English tutor.
Holly’s work focuses on deliberative democracy, immigration, and citizens' assemblies. It argues in favour of developing citizens’ assemblies on immigration and presents a model for such an assembly.
Holly is currently working towards publishing two of her dissertation chapters. In addition, she has published a number of articles in her capacity as a legal writer for the UK’s Immigration Advice Service.
