Carla Nikolaus

Student Advisor
Carla knew early on that she wanted to work in an international environment and bring people from different cultures together. After completing her bachelor’s degree in Sociolinguistics and East Asian Studies at Freie Universität Berlin, she went on to pursue the dual master’s program “Intercultural German Studies – Germany China” at the University of Göttingen and Beijing Foreign Studies University. Her one-year study abroad experience in Beijing was particularly formative for her, as it allowed her to experience both academic and everyday life in a new cultural context. In addition, she completed an internship at the Beijing office of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), where she gained further insights into international academic exchange.
Carla greatly enjoys working with young people from all over the world. Her own international study experiences in Scotland, Spain, and China, as well as her work with a high school student exchange organization, have shown her how enriching but also sometimes challenging stays abroad can be. That is why she is particularly committed to supporting international students at FUBiS during their time in Berlin.
