Starting in November 2026, Freie Universität Berlin is launching FU Berlin German Prep – German Language Preparation Courses, a new fee-based German language program for international prospective students aged 18 and over.

The program is designed for participants who wish to improve their German from B2 to C1 and prepare linguistically for studying in Germany. Thanks to its close connection with Freie Universität Berlin, it is particularly suitable for prospective students planning to study there.

The first course begins on November 2, 2026. Four consecutive in-person modules – B2.1, B2.2, C1.1 and C1.2 – lead participants to C1 level by May 2027. In addition, participants gain insights into university life and have access to advisory services to support their study application and transition to university.

Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate issued by Freie Universität Berlin. The certificate is accepted by Freie Universität Berlin as proof of the required German language proficiency for admission. Whether it is accepted by other universities depends on their respective admission and recognition regulations.

Registration for the B2.1 course has to be completed online.
