Host Family

Homestay with Berlin host family

FUBiS offers a limited number of homestay opportunities with Berlin hosts. Homestay is particularly attractive for German language students since they will be able to practice their German in conversations with their hosts and fully immerse in German culture on a day-to-day basis.

The costs include daily breakfast, one additional meal and commission. Homestay provides students with a private bedroom including linen, bed, desk, a place for clothing and personal items.

Please note that especially during the summer months, many families with small children will be on vacation and students will most likely be placed in a family with older kids who may not live at home anymore or who might not spend a lot of time at home. Students may also be matched with single-person households or couples without children. Please make sure to clearly indicate your expectations when completing the homestay questionnaire which will be sent to you once you have registered for our program. FUBiS will try to accommodate them if possible. Placement in a family cannot be guaranteed and will be based on a number of aspects, i.e. smoking habits, allergies or dietary restrictions.

Students participating in both Summer terms can stay with their hosts during the week in between the two terms for an extra daily charge.

Information regarding personal liability insurance:

FUBiS tuition and program fee do not include any insurance coverage in case of personal injury or property damage. We urge you to obtain a personal liability insurance coverage.

FUBiS offers to purchase a combination of accident and personal liability insurance (please see fees here). The insurance can be purchased during the registration process.

If you already have a personal liability insurance in your home country please check if it is also valid in Germany.
